Brown Sugar Syrup
Sources
Ingredients
- 120 g (.5c) water
- 213 g (1c) brown sugar
- 56 g (4T) butter
- 1/4 t salt (if using unsalted butter)
- 1/4 t vanilla extract
Method
Stir the water and brown sugar together in a saucepan.
Heat on medium high and stir until the sugar is melted and the mixture comes to a boil.
Boil on medium heat for 4-5 minutes. (Cook longer for a thicker result.)
Reduce heat to low and whisk in the butter, 1T at a time, until the butter is melted completely.
Stir in the vanilla extract
Remove pan from heat and let it rest for five minutes before pouring it into a heatproof container.
Store leftover syrup in a tightly closed canning jar in the refrigerator for up to a month.
Notes
To Reheat Leftover Syrup
- Place the closed jar in hot water until it flows freely, 5-10 minutes.
